Ethan Harsell Officially on the Ballot for North Dakota House District 42: A True Grassroots Conservative Campaign
Grand Forks, N.D. – April 8, 2026 – Ethan Harsell, the conservative Republican candidate for North Dakota House of Representatives District 42, announced today that he is officially on the ballot after successfully filing his petition with the North Dakota Secretary of State.
“This is a true 100% grassroots campaign built by real North Dakotans right here in Grand Forks,” said Harsell. “Unlike other candidates who are propped up by paid knockers and out-of-town operatives who don’t even live here, my campaign is powered by local volunteers who actually live here, work here, and pay taxes here. I want to give a special thanks to every single person who signed my petition and helped get us officially on the ballot.”
Harsell is running on a bold conservative platform focused on economic freedom, aggressive tax relief, and proven North Dakota values.
“My top priority is real tax relief for working families,” Harsell stated. “We will eliminate taxes on tips and overtime, slash the state income tax, and phase out local property taxes for homeowners through voter-approved reform. This reform ends bad projects while fully protecting school funding. I will also give citizens the power to roll back property taxes through a petition-triggered election. By forcing audits and cutting waste first, we’ll deliver permanent relief without raising taxes or short-changing classrooms.”
Harsell’s platform also includes:
- Protecting Homeownership: Stop Wall Street and corporate investors from gobbling up single-family homes so Grand Forks neighborhoods stay stable for our kids and grandkids.
- Strong Schools: Increase teacher pay through merit and less bureaucracy, focus on core academics and trades, strengthen mental health support, and cap tuition at UND.
- Supporting Troops & Veterans: Expand tax relief for veterans, improve National Guard benefits to keep our service members in North Dakota, and grow UAS and defense jobs tied to Grand Forks Air Force Base.
- Proven North Dakota Values: Reduce regulations on oil, gas, and agriculture; support law enforcement; protect the unborn; safeguard Second Amendment rights for all law-abiding citizens (including renters); and block foreign adversaries — especially Communist China —from buying North Dakota farmland.
“North Dakota’s farmland and single-family homes must stay in the hands of American families, not Beijing or corporate landlords,” Harsell declared. “This is about protecting our food security, our neighborhoods, and our future.”
